Aid Gaza (“Aid Gaza”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the website aidgaza.org and the Aid Gaza Publisher desktop application. We are a humanitarian initiative that delivers and transparently reports on relief aid for Gaza. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We are committed to collecting as little personal information as possible.
1. Information we collect
Visitors to aidgaza.org. You can browse our website without creating an account or providing personal information. We do not sell or rent any personal data. Specifically:
- Donation figures shown on the site are aggregate totals (amounts collected and delivered). They are read from an internal spreadsheet and do not contain individual donor names, contact details, or payment card information.
- Receipt images that we publish for transparency are automatically processed to redact (black out) personal details such as names, bank account numbers, IBANs, and phone numbers before they appear on the site.
- Language preference. We store a single cookie (
NEXT_LOCALE) to remember your chosen language (English, Turkish, or Arabic). It contains no personal data and is used only to display the site in your language. - We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site trackers, or third-party analytics profiling.
Donations. Donations are processed by third-party providers (for example, your bank or a payment provider) outside of this website. Any information you provide during a donation is handled by that provider under its own privacy policy. We receive only the aggregate amounts needed for our public transparency reporting.
Embedded videos. Some pages embed videos hosted on YouTube. When you play an embedded video, YouTube (Google) may set cookies and receive data such as your IP address, in accordance with Google’s own privacy policy.
2. Aid Gaza Publisher application
The Aid Gaza Publisher is a desktop application used by our own authorized team members to publish news updates, pages, and photos to aidgaza.org, and to upload videos to Aid Gaza’s own YouTube channel. It is not a consumer product. When a team member signs in:
- Sign-in credentials for aidgaza.org are exchanged for an access token that is stored encrypted on the team member’s own device and is never transmitted to any third party.
- If the team member connects a Google/YouTube account, the resulting authorization token is likewise stored only on that local device, in encrypted form.
3. Use of Google and YouTube API Services
The Aid Gaza Publisher uses YouTube API Services to upload videos to Aid Gaza’s YouTube channel. By using this feature, the operator agrees to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Our access to and use of information received from the YouTube and Google APIs is subject to the Google Privacy Policy.
- What we access. With the account holder’s consent, the app requests permission to upload videos to their YouTube channel and to read the channel’s name (to confirm which account is connected). We request only these scopes and use them solely for those purposes.
- What we store. We do not store YouTube content, viewing data, or subscriber data on our servers. The Google authorization token is kept only on the local device that connected the account and is used only to perform uploads that the team member initiates.
- What we do not do. We do not sell, transfer, or use Google user data for advertising, and we do not share it with third parties. We do not use it to build profiles or for any purpose other than publishing Aid Gaza’s own videos.
- Revoking access. An account holder can revoke the app’s access at any time via their Google Account security settings at myaccount.google.com/permissions, or by disconnecting the account within the app.
4. How we use information
- To operate and display the website in your chosen language.
- To publish news, projects, photos, and videos about our humanitarian work.
- To report transparently on aggregate donations collected and delivered.
- To respond to enquiries you send us by email.
5. Data retention
Aggregate donation figures and published content remain available as part of our public record. Locally stored authorization tokens persist on a team member’s device until they disconnect the account or clear the app’s data. The language cookie expires according to your browser settings.
6. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only where necessary to operate our service (for example, video content you choose to publish is transmitted to YouTube to appear on our channel), or where required by law.
7. Security
Administrative access to aidgaza.org is protected by multi-factor authentication. Access tokens used by the Aid Gaza Publisher are encrypted at rest on the local device. While no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, we take reasonable measures to protect information.
8. Children’s privacy
Our services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
9. Your choices
- You can browse the site without providing personal information.
- You can clear or block the language cookie in your browser settings.
- Account holders can revoke Google/YouTube access as described in section 3.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
